THE rebuilding work at Cheshire League Division Two side Malpas continues as boss Tony Ennion battles the spectre of relegation with an ever-changing team.

Since his appointment a number of Malpas’ experienced players have left and Ennion is trying to replace them with young blood.

But Congleton had too much for the hosts as they over-ran Malpas.

“I am building a team from scratch,” said Ennion. “It isn’t easy, Malpas is a small village competing with Whitchurch, Tarporley and the Welsh border, but we want to survive and build.”

Tarporley Vics 1 Crewe FC 1: A seven-week break, suspensions and injuries saw Vics struggle against Crewe.

Jonny Winter was added to the injury list early after a clash of heads saw him hospitalised and on 18 minutes Crewe’s centre half bundled in the opener from close range from a corner.

But 20 minutes from time Henry Buckley volleyed home for a point.
