Chester & District Sunday Football League

Highfield Horses edged a hard-fought derby to overcome FC Blacon 3-2 in Section A.

Matty Cross gave them the lead but Lee Bennion equalised and Horses keeper Stuart Piercy saved a penalty to keep his side level.

Sam Henry came off the bench to score twice for Highfield but Adam Cheers' thunderbolt set up a tense finale.

Hanbridge Red Bulls defeated Upton Youth Centre 6-3 thanks to Neil Morris, Ollie Miles and braces from Tom Berry and Steve Dodd.

Two-goal Michael Bowell and Dean Radcliffe gave Upton hope and had them level at 3-3 at one point but the Bulls produced a late surge.

Luke Jones, John Dowridge, Tom George and veteran Dave Peters netted as St Theresa's won 4-2 at home to Frodsham Barcelona.

In Section B, Adam Hughes and Danny Farrell gave improving Waverton a 2-1 win at home to Axis United, who responded through Tom Lloyd.

Saltney Ferry recorded a 3-1 win at FC Hickory's thanks to Peter Gilmartin's long range free kick and two-goal Jordan Turner. Ben Stern pulled one back.

Pete Mort has now scored in 20 consecutive seasons for Dee Rangers following his screamer in a 4-0 win over Spital Vaults. Tom Walsh, Jordan Hampshire and Joe Rigby got the others.

AFC Saltney progressed in the League Cup with a 6-2 success at home to AFC Bears Paw. Ryan Lloyd and James Simpson netted for the Bears, but Nathan Jones, Mike O'Connor, Callum Humphries, Tom Shone, evergreen Eddie Shields and Lee Chesworth put the home side through.

Vicar's Cross Dynamos edged out Custom House 2-1 to reach the second round. Todd Reid and Nathan Mapletoft got the goals with Andy Hornsby responding.

Two-goal Sonny Allison and Josh Gray gave Division Three side Woodchurch a surprise 3-1 win at Premier Division outfit Birkenhead Town in the Tom Geraghty Memorial Trophy first round.

Lache were too strong for Deva Athletic with Declan McHugh, Sam Buckley, Kirk Well, Kevin McGovern and Ryan McLean netting in a 5-1 win.

Simon Tierney bagged a double as Kelma progressed with a 5-3 win over Hoole Rangers Reserves. Luke Walker, Nathan Wilson and Lee O’Donnell finished off the scoring.

Lewis Davenport hit a hat-trick as Newton Athletic upset Kelsall with a 4-3 win and Crossway won for the first time this season, beating Clubbies 4-2.

In the Premier Division, Ellis Moore hit a hat-trick and Emile Prince got a double as Blacon Youth Club won 5-2 at home to Whitby Athletic.

Matthew Jones, Les Elson, Allen Jones and Ollie Miles earned Uberlube a 4-0 win at struggling Christleton Celtic and Hoole Rangers claimed a 3-2 win over Ellesmere Port Town thanks to Paul Hollifield, Stewart Schumacher and Ben Irwin.

Division One leaders Boughton Athletic made light work of Peacock 09 with a 4-0 win through Joe Cossins (2), Jim Reece and Chris McCaughey.

Nick Jones (2) and Lee Excel got the goals for Neston Town in a 3-3 draw with Hooton and Leo Mather bagged both as Lodge Bar beat Orange Athletic 2-1.

In Division Three, FC Blacon moved top with a 6-3 triumph at Eastham Athletic with Adam Langton getting a hat-trick. Chris Larson (2) and Alfie Cheers completed the win.

Civil Defence won 3-1 at home to Christleton Youth, who netted through Chris Jones, and Samba drew 4-4 with Ellesmere Port Town Reserves.

Cheshire Football League

Carl Smith netted for Tarporley Victoria but Kyle Watson earned Mersey Valley a 1-1 draw in the JA Walton Challenge Cup.

Vics entertain Chester Nomads in the Chester & District FA Senior Cup on Saturday (2.30pm).

Malpas did not have a game last weekend but are back in action on Saturday with a trip to Kelsall in the Chester & District FA Senior Cup (2.30pm).
