HELSBY got their season back on track in the Chester & District Junior League Under 9s Blue Division with a 3-0 win at Princes Villa Colts.

Early pressure paid dividends as Mathew Harrison was in the box to score the opening goal.

Helsby doubled their advantage when the second goal came from Harry Wynn, who drilled a 25-yard shot into the top corner.

Helsby scored their third before half time from a well-taken corner to the back post which the advancing Ethan Olobodun tapped in at the back post.

Princes Villa kept the scoreline the same after the break with some good defending and excellent keeping.

Man of the match for Helsby was Liam Walkden.

Newton Athletic made it eight wins in a row with a 5-0 victory at home to Waverton Bees. A James Stanley brace and strikes from Gustav Warboys, Ryan Austin and MoM Jake Beasley completed the win.

In the Green Division, Upton Panthers won an excellent game of football against The Groves 3-0.

Both teams performed well and have shown great progress since the corresponding fixture earlier in the season. Joe Stockley scored twice and Upton’s MoM Oli James scored a sublime free kick. The outstanding Ethan Bridge was The Groves’ MoM.
