JOHN Briscoe fired home an extra-time winner to land the Chester FA Sunday District Cup for Corner Pin.

It was a thrilling final, with the sides tied at 4-4 at the end of normal time.

Briscoe’s heroics clinched the cup for Corner Pin, who won the competition at the third attempt having lost two previous finals.

Stu McIntosh (2) and Paul Holyfield (2) were the other Corner Pin marksmen.

The other team to get their hands on silverware on Sunday were Elton, who beat Saltney SC 4-3 in the Bill Gresty Memorial Trophy.

In Concorde Trophies Section A, it has been a good week for Dee Miller Athletic.

Goals from Shaun Campbell, Simon Andrews and Jamie McElwaine gave them a 3-2 success in Sunday’s derby with Vicars Cross. Then on Tuesday, Dee cruised to a 5-1 success over Highfield.

In Chester Chronicle Section B, leaders Saltney Ferry strengthened their grip on top spot on Tuesday with a 7-1 victory over Piper.

Corner Pin carried on from where they left off on Sunday – beating Upton YC 6-0.

Carlton must seek reelection to the league after finishing bottom of Dale Recycling Solutions Section C.
