MOTORS fought back to from 2-0 down to earn a share of the spoils from an enthralling Blue Square Bet North encounter at Rivacre Park.

Tom Rutter and Ashley Stott netted to complete Carl Macauley’s side’s recovery job on Saturday.

Stortford took the lead after 30 minutes. Good work on the right wing by Harry Baker saw him play the ball into the danger area for Matt Johnson, who turned his marker and blasted beyond Zac Jones.

After the interval, Motors showed a marked improvement and reduced the deficit on 49 minutes when Rutter turned in a Mike Burns corner.

The equaliser came on 62 minutes after Rutter was hauled down in the area by Johnny Herd.

Stott stepped up to take the resulting penalty kick, calmly chipping the ball down the middle of the goal after keeper Luke Chambers had dived to his left.

Motors, whose Cheshire Senior Cup clash at home to Hyde on Tuesday was frozen off, are away to Hinckley United on Saturday (3pm) and Bradford Park Avenue on Monday (7.45pm).
