EVERTON have signed former Wolves goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann on a short-term deal.

The experienced American stopper has signed a contract with the Blues until January.   Hahnemann will add depth to a goalkeeping department which already includes countryman Tim Howard and Slovakia international Jan Mucha.   The 39-year-old has plenty of English football experience, first with Reading then with Wolves.   He was released by the Molineux club in the summer and will now link up with the Everton squad at Finch Farm.   Hahnemann has nine international caps but has largely been a back-up to Howard, who has emerged as the USA’s first choice.

Manager David Moyes said the experienced player would bolster the keeping ranks.

He said: "We have only got two so I felt we needed someone before the window closed and I have been on the look out for a keeper.

"He is expereinced and will give us that bit of extra cover we were after."
