CHESTER City are to extend the loan of George Elokobi, but Taiwo Atieno will be returning to Walsall following his four-week loan.

Both players' one-month loan deals finish on Sunday and while the Colchester United defender has impressed with his performances, Atieno has failed to provide the solution to City's goalscoring problems.

City chairman Stephen Vaughan said: "Both players have blended in well at Chester City and I would like to publicly thank Taiwo and Walsall for their contribution and cooperation during the month."

Elokobi, a former Cameroon youth international, was outstanding in the midweek match at Grimsby Town, and is highly thought of at Colchester.

Ateino, who had a three-month loan spell with Rochdale earlier this season, scored for City against Rushden and Diamonds earlier this month.

Meanwhile, Vaughan denied recent reports linking Chester with the Tranmere Rovers midfielder Alan Navarro.

"Alan spent a period on loan with us earlier this season, but we have not indicated to Tran-mere that we want to sign him. I understand he is close to signing for Macclesfield, he is not in our future plans."
