TWO hours of play failed to separate local rivals Castrol Social and Vauxhall Reserves in Saturday's switched Pyke Cup second round derby clash at Rivacre Park.

The tie ended 1-1 after extra time with Alan Schumacher netting for the Oilmen and Kevin Davies on target for Motors so the pair will now have to do it all again.

In league action, Ellesmere Port defied the odds once again, bagging three more priceless points in their quest to avoid relegation from Division One.

Port recorded a superb 2-0 victory over third-placed Poulton Victoria, with goals from Dave Hall and Richie White.

In Division Two, Capenhurst Villa maintained their promotion drive, following a 4-2 triumph at Heswall Reserves.

A smart double from Chris Sharp was supplemented by further efforts from Jordan Brierley and Mark Ryan as Villa moved into third place in the table as a result of Upton AA's 3-2 defeat at current leaders Mond Rangers.

Grange Athletic are still in with a shout for promotion from Division Three and now occupy fifth position, eight points adrift of lead-ers Willaston but with three games in hand.

This follows their fine 4-1 victory in their derby clash with Capenhurst Villa Reserves in which Mike Thelwell (2), Steve Finlay and Paul Cockram were Grange's marksmen, with Alan Locke in reply for the home side.

Willaston's hopes of a swift return to Division Two, were boosted after the impressive Karl Dunbar cracked both goals in their 2-0 success at MBNA.

Chris Sword found the net for Ellesmere Port Reserves but finished on the losing side after Brad Clewley and Leroy Robinson replied to earn Upton AA Reserves a 2-1 win.
