Chester FC have parted ways with utility player Dale Tonge.

The 30-year-old, who joined the club during the summer after impressing during a pre-season trial spell following his release from Torquay United, had been on a short-term contract with the Blues since August.

He signed an extension to his deal at the beginning of September but has found first-team opportunities hard to come by and has made only three appearances for the Blues, starting once and coming off the bench twice after failing to dislodge regular full-backs Johnny Hunt and Ryan Higgins.

The former Barnsley and Rotherham United man, who can operate at either full-back or in midfield, has been travelling from his Yorkshire home and has departed in order to seek more regular football.
