CHAMPIONS Congleton Athletic proved they are in no mood to give up their crown without a fight after winning 4-2 at Bunbury on Saturday.

The win put them back into pole position, three points clear of Alsager Faculty, although the students have three matches in hand.

James Hewitt scored twice for Congleton and further goals from Tom Withers and Eddie Pollard gave them an important win as goals from Ben Camber and Paul Nicholas proved no more than consolation for Bunbury.

In the other game to take place in the Combined Division, Malpas completed their league programme with a 2-2 home draw against Winnington Reserves.

Goals from John Myles and Mark Donney enhanced Malpas's claims on a top-five finish with Mark Baiton's brace earning Winnington a share of the spoils.
