Barrow AFC

The Bluebirds have appointed former Mansfield Town and Torquay United boss Paul Cox as their new manager following the departure of Darren Edmondson. Cox, 43, led Mansfield to the title in 2012 and had a short spell at Torquay earlier this season.

Barrow CEO Austin Straker said: "Paul has stated he is very excited by the challenge presented and is looking forward to building on the progress that has already been achieved at the club."

Braintree Town

Young goalkeeper Alex Lynch has joined the Iron on a month's loan from League Two side Wycombe Wanderers. Lynch started his career at Peterborough United and spent time on loan with Stamford AFC before making the switch to Adams Park

He deputised for Chairboys' number one Matt Ingram, who sustained an injury on the final day of last season, and impressed throughout the play-offs, saving a penalty in the shoot-out in the final at Wembley.

Earlier this season he was loaned to National League South outfit Wealdstone, but was recalled without making an appearance.

Eastleigh

Eastleigh have signed right-back or midfielder Wes Atkinson on an initial one month's loan from League Two club Notts County. The 21-year-old, who came through the ranks at West Bromwich Albion, gained experience for Cambridge United on loan last season.

Meanwhile, on-loan goalkeeper Michael Poke has returned to the fold having recovered from a shoulder problem.

Forest Green Rovers

Rovers have signed Stevenage striker Brett Williams on a loan deal that will run until the start of January. The forward moved to Stevenage at the end of last season following a prolific two-season spell with Aldershot Town.

The 27-year-old spent time with Eastleigh, AFC Totton and Winchester City before he moved to Reading in 2011.

Gateshead

Following the departures of manager Malcolm Crosby and assistant Gary Owers, the Heed have placed skipper Ben Clark and reserve team boss Micky Cummins in caretaker charge.

The duo be in control for Saturday’s clash with Chester FC, assuming the vacant managerial position has not been filled.

Meanwhile, the club has brought in defender Liam Gibson and midfielder Martin Smith. Eighteen-year-old Gibson joins from Newcastle United and Smith, 20, has been on the books at Sunderland since the age of eight.

Guiseley AFC

The Lions have confirmed the loan signing of James Hurst from National League rivals Torquay United. The 23-year-old, who can operate in defence or midfield, arrives on a temporary basis until January.

Hurst moved to Torquay from Hednesford Town in the close season and has seven goals to his name in 17 league games this term.

Kidderminster Harriers

Harriers have announced that Jake Green and Calvin Dinsley have left the club after their contracts were cancelled by mutual consent.

Green moved to Harriers after time at Mansfield Town, Weymouth and Bristol Rovers while Dinsley joined over the summer from Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division neighbours Redditch United.

Meanwhile, West Bromwich Albion defender Kyle Howkins has extended his stay at Aggborough until the New Year after impressing on loan.

Southport

Dino Maamria has been appointed as the new Southport manager, replacing ex-Chester City captain Paul Carden.

Maamria played for the club back in the 2000-01 season when Southport finished fourth in the Football Conference. In all he had three spells with the Sandgrounders.

As a coach and assistant-manager, Maamria has worked under Graham Westley at Stevenage and Preston North End.

Woking

Bournemouth striker Joe Quigley has joined his third club in the National League after completing a loan move to Kingfield.

The 19-year-old has had spells with Wrexham and Torquay United this season. He made his Cards debut against Chester at the weekend.
