CHESTER City will be aiming to get back to winning ways tonight as they entertain Stalybridge Celtic in the Nationwide Conference at the Deva Stadium.

City have picked up just two points from their last three matches. The run has meant that they have slipped to 15th place in the league table.

Former Tranmere Rovers striker Chris Malkin could come into contention for a place in the squad after missing the last six games with a groin injury.

Scot Ruscoe will play his last game tonight, prior to starting a suspension on Saturday, following his sending off at Barnet 10 days ago.

Chester manager Gordon Hill seems to be aware that his squad needs strengthening, and he is to give trials to a number of players in tomorrow night's reserve game against Burscough.

One player who will figure in tomorrow's Deva Stadium match is the former Mansfield Town and Southport defender David Linighan.

Tonight, a lot of interest will centre around the match attendance. City's three home games this season have been watched by an average attendance of just over 700, with a paltry 605 turning up for last Tuesday's game against Telford United.

CHESTER CITY (probable): Brown, M Rose, Ruffer, Lancaster, Woodyatt, Hill, Porter, Kerr, Ruscoe, Spink, Beasley. Subs (from): S Rose, Killgannon, Blackburn, Haarhoff, Rodgers, Malkin.

*FORMER Chester City manager Graham Barrow has been short listed for the vacant managerial post at third division Halifax Town.

Meanwhile City are considering moving the kick-off of the Conference match with Margate on Saturday, October 6 to 1pm. The fixture would clash with the televised England v Greece World Cup qualifier.
