NEW signing Chris Tate goes straight into the Chester City side to face Scarborough in the Nationwide Conference at the Deva Stadium tonight.

Tate, who completed his loan signing from Leyton Orient last night, will initially spend a month at City, with the possibility of an extension until the end of the season.

The 24-year-old striker was one of three signings made by Chester yesterday; also joining the club on a permanent basis were defender Phil Bolland and utility player Gary Brabin.

Bolland, who has been on loan at the Deva Stadium for the past six weeks, was signed from Oxford United for a fee of £15,000, while ex-Blackpool and Torquay United player Brabin has been secured until the end of the season with an extension to extend the deal during the summer.

Chester's signing spree appears to be continuing, with chairman Stephen Vaughan revealing last night that the club were negotiating with Oxford for Wayne Hatswell, who is also a central defender.

"We have agreed a fee with Oxford," he said. "We will now have further discussions with the player and hopefully agree personal terms.

"We are building a strong squad at the Deva Stadium-one that we are sure will make a concerted push for promotion next season.

"Like most clubs, we would like more supporters to come through the turnstiles, but I think our excellent fans can see that we are serious about building for the future and I am sure, in time, those who have stayed away for whatever reason will return to assist our push for a return to the Football League next year," the chairman added.

Tonight's game against Scarborough is the second of three matches against fellow Nationwide Conference strugglers.

Last weekend City drew 1-1 with Leigh RMI, whilst next Saturday Chester visit Stalybridge Celtic.

Michael Rose is available for this evening's clash, after missing the last two games because of suspension. However, Iain Jenkins is still ruled out through injury.
