CHESTER City went to the top of the Nationwide Conference after a hard fought 2-1 win against Leigh RMI at the Deva stadium last night.
City had the majority of the play and should have won by a greater margin. But the visitors battled well, particularly in defence.
The early exchanges were dominated by the home side, with Sugden and Twiss both going close.
Against the run of play Leigh took the lead after 23 minutes. Chester's Scott Gayett and Wayne Brown got into a tangle trying to clear the ball, before it ricochet off Gayett and into his own net.
Sugden scored the equaliser after 57 minutes, sweeping the ball home from close range.
Chester's leading scorer Beasley grabbed the winner four minutes from time, turning the ball into the net following a McIntyre corner.
