NATIONWIDE Conference leaders Chester City will be involved in the match of the day in the FA Trophy third round, when they meet Halifax Town at the Deva Stadium on Saturday January 10th.

Yesterday's draw paired the sides in one of four all-Conference clashes. The others are Nigel Clough's Burton Albion versus Accrington Stanley, second-placed Hereford United against Exeter City, whilst Shrewsbury Town and Morecambe meet in a repeat of their recent FA Cup tie.

With the total prize money for the eventual Trophy winners amounting to £90,000, this season's competition is extremely lucrative to clubs beneath the Football League.

City chairman Stephen Vaughan and manager Mark Wright are both hopeful that Chester will have a successful run in this season's competition.

"My dream is that we do a Trophy and Nationwide Conference double," said Vaughan.

"The first prize of £50,000 and the other money you accumulate by winning the Trophy is extremely attractive for clubs, so we are very keen to do well in the competition."
