Welsh Premier League club Airbus UK Broughton are poised to announce the re-signing of former Chester FC midfielder Wayne Riley.

Riley, 25, moved to the Swansway Chester Stadium in July from Conference North outfit Hednesford Town.

He scored 12 times in 23 starts for the Pitmen last season yet found his first team opportunities limited with the Blues.

Riley, whose release was confirmed on Friday evening, only start came in the Cheshire Senior Cup defeat at Runcorn Town.

He made six substitute appearances in the league, scoring once in the 2-2 draw at Kidderminster Harriers.

Riley came through the ranks at Northwich Victoria, scoring the winner in an FA Cup tie with Charlton Athletic in 2009.

He scored 38 times in 155 games for Vics but followed manager Andy Preece to Airbus in summer 2012.

Riley netted 12 goals in 29 starts, ending the season as the Wingmakers top scorer, and then switched to Hednesford.

Preece, whose side are fourth in the table, is understood to have agreed terms with Riley and the move is expected to be announced this week.
