Lewis Turner v Richard Peniket

With a handful of games remaining it's hard to make a stronger case for player of the season than Lewis Turner.

He has performed with far more maturity and consistency than one might reasonably expect from a 21-year-old full back still learning his trade.

Turner provides a dependable presence at right back and has shown himself to be a real force in opposition territory with his overlapping runs and inviting crosses.

Steve Burr encourages his full backs to get forward as much as possible and the Leeds United youngster has taken that message on board without neglecting his defensive duties.

Turner has really prospered away from the turmoil around Elland Road and has been the one stable element in a back four that has been chopped and changed all season.

Tonight the right back will have to contain the dangerous Richard Peniket, who has scored seven times for the Lambs this season.

Peniket came through the ranks with Premier League club Fulham and has been used up front and out wide since linking up with Tamworth over the summer, often switching between midfield and attack during games.

He is not certain to play tonight after picking up a knock in the 2-1 loss to Macclesfield Town but manager Dale Belford will give him until the last minute to prove his fitness, especially with star midfielder Lloyd Kerry even more doubtful.

Wales Under 21 international Peniket scored the Lambs third in the thrilling 4-3 loss to the Blues last month and will need to kept under control tonight.

Andy Bond v Kevin Thornton

Earlier in the season opposition teams found it all too easy to win the midfield battle but the arrival of Andy Bond has helped address that weakness.

Bond continued his impressive run of form with another energetic and assured display at Kenilworth Road on Saturday alongside Nathan Turner and Jason Jarrett, who deserves some credit too.

When Steve Burr brought Bond to the club back in January he backed the 28-year-old to make an impact and he has been delivered.

He has sured up the engine room and you can't help wonder whether the Blues would be such testing position had he been here from the start of the season.

Burr has options in the middle of the park with Nathan Turner now back to fitness and he can switch between a midfield two and three safe as needed.

Bond can do pretty much everything you would want from a central midfielder and hopefully he can be convinced to stick around.

Tamworth have brought in the experienced but injury prone Kevin Thornton on loan from Wrexham and he will probably partner the well-travelled Gavin Mahon in midfield.

Irish playmaker Thornton has a clever footballing brain and can pick out some good passes but whether he has the attributes needed fora rough and tumble relegation battle remains to be seen.

Lambs boss Dale Belford will be looking for Mahon to do the leg work so that Thornton can get on the ball and play but Bond and Jarrett look well equipped to win this particularly duel.

John Rooney v Jake Caprice

Left back has been a major problem for Tamworth this season with Jake Caprice the latest to be given the number three shirt, although manager Dale Belford has added Romanian Claudiu Hoban to his squad too.

Caprice, 21, joined on loan from Championship strugglers Blackpool on March 7 and has made four appearances for the Lambs so far.

He joined the Tangerines in summer 2012 from Crystal Palace and has been loaned to Dagenham and Redbridge and Scottish Premier League club St Mirren.

Caprice is quick and mobile but has limited senior experience and will be lining up against the Blues most creative force in John Rooney.

Attacking midfielder Rooney has proven to be an excellent signing and looks to have found a home at the Swansway Chester Stadium after a nomadic spell.

He will most likely be used wide on the right tonight, although it will be interesting to see whether it as part of a midfield four or five, or even as part of a front three.

Steve Burr has given Rooney something of a licence to roam and he again proved to be a significant threat cutting infield against Luton Town on Saturday.

He doesn't seem quite as effective when used in a four-man midfield as he has greater defensive responsibilities but even then he still manages to make a valuable contribution.

Rooney brings an aggressive edge to the Blues, charging around the pitch and throwing himself into tackles as well as delivering some wicked set pieces.

He has chipped in with four goals and will no doubt be keen to add to that figure but it is not for the want of trying as Rooney is one of the few willing to have a pop at goal.

He terrorised Tamworth in the 4-3 win at the Lamb Ground, scoring an excellent goal and producing the pass of the season to allow Matty Taylor to wrap up his hat-trick.

Caprice could be up against it tonight.
