Who's playing?

Chester FC v Dover Athletic – Vanarama National League

When and where?

Tuesday, November 24 (7.45pm) at the Lookers Vauxhall Stadium.

What has Jon McCarthy had to say about it?

"Dover will be a more difficult test and I suppose the expectation is different. The fans came with the expectation on Saturday that we would beat Woking and the players need to be able to deal with that and cope with that because that's where we've got to.

"The next level is for us to get that into the players. Against Dover there probably won't be as much expectation and if we can put in a performance the fans will get behind us and that's the bit we have to get through to the players and they have to learn to do."

Any team news?

Chester will definitely be without skipper Ian Sharps, who serves a one-match suspension after picking up his fifth booking of the campaign in the weekend's 2-1 defeat at home to Woking.

Michael Kay, the obvious replacement, has been given time to consider his future so won't be involved, meaning Luke George could be used in defence, if he can overcome an Achilles knock.

On-loan Oxford United forward James Roberts came off with a recurring hamstring problem again last time out so seems certain to miss out too.

That could see Calum Dyson, on loan from Everton, promoted into the starting line-up while Luke Woodland, Ben Gordon and Craig Hobson will be hoping for a chance.

Dover head into the game sitting fourth in the National League, five points behind leaders Cheltenham Town, with 11 wins, six draws and five defeats from 22 games.

Three points tonight would see Chris Kinnear's side climb into third place and his players will be in confident mood following a 3-1 win at home to Barrow on Saturday, which ended a mini slump of three straight losses.

Dover raced out of the blocks with first-half goals from Ricky Modeste, Richard Orlu and Ricky Miller meaning the game was all but over before the break.

Kinnear said afterwards: "First-half I thought we were quite outstanding. We may have lost to Eastleigh and Forest Green, but they are massive clubs with massive budgets. All I ask is they go out and play in the way they have been playing this and last season."

The Whites are expected to name the same line-up that beat Barrow, although there are slight concerns over Sam Magri and Jack Parkinson. Jaydon Gibbs (back) and Liam Bellamy (knee) remain unavailable.

What happened the last time the two sides met?

Back in August, the Blues continued their unbeaten start to the season with a battling goalless draw at the Crabble . Chester hit the woodwork three times but a draw was a fair result after the home side had plenty of chances of their own.

Stefan Payne spurned two excellent scoring opportunities for the Whites in the first-half although it was the visitors who went closest when Ross Hannah smacked a shot past keeper Mitch Walker only for his attempt to thunder back off the woodwork.

Dover almost took the lead 10 minutes into the second period when Ricky Miller prodded over Jon Worsnop but Johnny Hunt reacted quickly to acrobatically hook the ball clear.

The Whites had a solid shout for a penalty turned down when Ryan Higgins appeared to handle in the area and Wornop had to be smart to tackle Miller on the edge of the area on 70 minutes.

After being on the back foot, Chester almost broke the deadlock on 77 minutes when Tom Shaw's clipped cross was met by substitute Craig Hobson who guided a header onto the bar when well placed.
