NEIL Young will use Tuesday’s Cheshire Senior Cup second-round clash at home to lower-league Stockport Sports (7.45pm) as a way of giving youth team duo Tom Peers and Sean Miller another chance to shine.
The teenagers impressed off the bench in the first-round win at Cheadle Town in November which set up the encounter with North West Counties outfit Stockport, who were previously known as Woodley Sports.
Chester FC boss Young said: “It’s a good chance to put Tom and Sean in and have another look at them and one or two other youngsters may yet play a part.”
The majority of the Blues side will be made up of players – like back-up goalkeeper Martin Fearon – who do not feature in Saturday’s league game away to Hinckley United (3pm).
Although his line-up will not be at full strength, Young is determined to beat Stockport and progress to the quarter-finals.
He said: “There are some big teams in this competition – the likes of Macclesfield, Tranmere and Crewe.
“I certainly wouldn’t mind a final against them come April and May time.
“It would be a great occasion.”
Chester are not involved in any other competition having been knocked out of the FA Cup and the FA Trophy.
