Chester FC forward Tom Peers has moved to FA Cup giant-killers Salford City on a month’s loan.

The 20-year-old academy product has found opportunities limited this season and the arrangement will allow him to gain some regular first-team football.

Warrington-born Peers has made seven substitute appearances in the National League, scoring once. He netted twice in last week's 10-1 hammering of Winsford United in the Cheshire Senior Cup.

Salford made national headlines at the weekend, beating Notts County in the FA Cup first round live on the BBC. The Class of 92 - Paul Scholes, Phil Neville, Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville - own the Evo-Stik League Premier Division club.

However, Peers will not be eligible for the second round tie with Hartlepool United as he came off the bench in Chester's fourth qualifying round defeat at Altrincham.

Ex-Chester striker Gareth Seddon is part of the squad at Moor Lane and Peers should make his debut for the Ammies at Workington this weekend.

Peers has been with the Blues since 2010 and his prolific scoring record for the club's youth teams led former manager Neil Young to give him his first-team debut aged 17.

He had a productive spell on loan at 1874 Northwich in 2013-14 and was loaned to Hednesford Town and Marine last season.

Peers bagged eight goals in just nine games for the Crosby club and that prompted Steve Burr to recall him in March, including him in the squad for the final seven games.

Peers signed a new 12-month deal at the end of last season.
