Chester FC have completed the signing of AFC Telford United full-back Ryan Higgins and loaned Fleetwood Town midfielder Josh Green.
With the transfer window now open, manager Steve Burr has moved quickly to strengthen his squad.
Liverpool-born Higgins, 20, was non-contract at New Bucks Head and the Blues put in seven days notice of approach for him on Christmas Eve.
Telford offered the attacking right-back a new deal in response but he spoke with Burr on New Year's Eve and has decided to switch to the Swansway Chester Stadium.
It was hoped he would be available for the home game with Braintree Town on Sunday (3pm) but that now looks unlikely as Telford have still to release his registration.
Central midfielder Green, 19, has been signed on loan from League One club Fleetwood Town and should be available to face Braintree, subject to the necessary paperwork being completed.
Green, who hails from Shrewsbury, was on the books of Macclesfield Town and had a spell on loan at Market Drayton before moving to Stalybridge Celtic last January.
His form at Bower Fold drew interest from Football League scouts and he signed a two-year deal with Fleetwood in the summer.
Burr said: "We're very pleased to have added Ryan to the squad.
"He's done well against us this season and we have been playing without a recognised right-back really so when we found out he was non-contract we were keen to get him.
"He reminds me very much of Lee Vaughan, who I took from Telford to Kidderminster and he's now playing in the Football League.
"Josh is a central midfielder and we need to freshen up the squad so we're grateful to Fleetwood for letting us take him. He should be available for Sunday hopefully."
Burr revealed he was closing in on a new striker and hopes to be able to complete that signing next week.
He said: "We're making progress and we are hoping to have something done next week. He's at a Football League club and they are close to bringing someone else in."
