THE special pink kit Chester FC players will wear in a one-off match has been given its official launch.

Neil Young’s men will don the striking strip for their home clash with Frickley Athletic on Saturday, October 29 as part of the club’s second ‘Think Pink Day’ to raise money for the breast care unit at the Countess of Chester Hospital.

Blues supporters are encouraged to wear something pink for the game – ideally one of the T-shirts, specially designed for the occasion, that will go on sale before the FA Trophy tie at home to Ashton United on October 22.

Limited edition black and pink Chester FC badges are already on sale in the club shop.

Bucket collections will be made around the ground and there will be a post-match auction in the Blues Bars of pink shirts worn in the match by Chester players.

The Countess of Chester Hospital will also profit from the 100 tickets the club has given the hospital to sell for the game.

Last year’s inaugural ‘Think Pink Day’ raised £3,300 for the cancer unit.

The pink strip was launched on Friday by Blues striker Michael Wilde and ITV news presenter and former Chester Chronicle journalist Lucy Meacock.

Wilde returned to the Exacta Stadium on Saturday for a special team picture with other members of Chester’s first-team squad.
