Ross Killock has returned to Chester FC with the ex-Leeds United defender penning a one-year contract.

Killock featured 19 times for the Blues while on loan during the 2013/14 season, scoring two goals and proving a hit with the fans before a torn hamstring forced him to return to Leeds.

The 21-year-old operates primarily in central defence but has been used at right-back and Chester boss Jon McCarthy believes that could be his position next season.

Huddersfield-born Killock signed his first professional contract with Leeds in 2012 but did not make a first-team appearance in his time at Elland Road and was released last month.

He had an impressive loan spell at Alfreton Town in 2012/13 before linking up with the Blues the following season when Neil Young brought him to Chester.

Killock spent time with FC Halifax Town during the 2014/15 campaign and then Stockport County last season when Young took him on loan for a second time.

Although those spells at The Shay and Edgeley Park did not work out as planned due to injuries and a lack of opportunities, Killock will hope a return to the club where he produced his best football can get his career back on track.

He becomes the third new face to join Chester following the arrivals of ex-Wrexham defender Blaine Hudson and former Tamworth midfielder Elliott Durrell.
