Chester FC manager Steve Burr has made Danny Harrison, John Disney and Wayne Riley available on free transfers.

All three have been on the periphery this season and the announcement follows winger Jamie Menagh confirming he had agreed to leave the club.

Burr wants to freshen up his squad in the transfer window with new faces and has already signed AFC Telford United right-back Ryan Higgins and loaned midfielder Josh Green from Fleetwood Town.

Harrison, Disney and Riley are contracted until the end of the season but are now free to talk to other clubs.

Burr said: "It's best for the lads to go and find themselves a chance of regular football, as I can't guarantee it here at Chester.

"I'm currently looking to strengthen the squad in the transfer window, so it's inevitable that some will have to make way, but I'd like to wish them all the best in their careers once they have moved on from Chester."

Experienced central midfielder Danny Harrison moved to Chester in summer 2013 after he was released from Tranmere Rovers.

He made 16 appearances in his first season, including helping the Blues win 2-0 at rivals Wrexham just 48 hours after the death of his father, before succumbing to a serious hip injury, which required an operation.

Harrison was missing for the best part of nine months but battled back to fitness and began the current season in the starting line-up.

However, the 32-year-old has fallen down the pecking order and started just one game since the middle of September.

Full-back Disney, 22, moved from Hednesford Town last summer with the Blues having to pay compensation to the Conference North club.

He struggled to break into the team and was substituted at half-time on his debut at Braintree Town having conceded a penalty for handball.

Apart from an appearance in the Cheshire Senior Cup defeat at Runcorn Town, Disney has rarely been seen and spent the back part of 2014 on loan at Nantwich Town.

Ex-Airbus UK Broughton midfielder Riley also made the switch from Hednesford in the summer.

He had a good goalscoring record at his previous clubs and Chester fans were keen to see if he could transfer that to a higher level.

However, Riley has found first team chances limited with his sole start coming in the Cheshire Senior Cup. He made six substitute appearances in the league, scoring off the bench in a 2-2 draw at Kidderminster Harriers.

Nantwich could be keen on a permanent deal for Disney, who impressed on loan with the Dabbers, while Airbus boss Andy Preece might be interested in working with Riley again.
