MATTY McGinn is expected to complete his permanent move to Chester FC before tonight’s Cheshire Senior Cup clash at Hyde (7.45pm).

But the left-back, who scored six goals and made five assists in a hugely impressive seven-game loan spell from Southport, will not feature against the Blue Square North leaders as his registration will not have gone through in time.

McGinn and the injured Ashley Williams aside, Blues boss Young has a fully fit squad to choose from for the first-round tie. But captain George Horan, who has been carrying a niggling groin strain since pre-season, will be given the night off.

Young is toying with the option of starting the match with three strikers and that may give Jamie Rainford the chance to impress alongside in-form duo Chris Simm and Matty McNeil.

A fourth forward, Michael Wilde, will have to settle for a place on the bench but he will almost certainly make his first appearance of the season after recovering from a fractured collarbone.

Teenage midfielder Joe Ormrod, meanwhile, is in line to make his first competitive appearance for the club.

Chester have won their last four games, scoring 15 times and not conceding once, but their hosts this evening are in even better form.

Hyde, whose squad includes former Blues right-back Michael Aspin, are riding high after winning their first 10 matches of the campaign.
