Chester FC duo George Thomson and Tom Peers had a disappointing weekend with their loan clubs while the weather prevented Sam Hughes getting on the pitch.

With the Blues going down 1-0 at Gateshead , there were defeats for Thomson and Peers with FC United of Manchester United and Salford City respectively.

Here's this week update on how trio of players currently out on loan are getting on:

George Thomson

Thomson made his debut as FC United of Manchester halted a seven-game losing streak with a battling 2-2 draw at National League North leaders Nuneaton Town.

FC United went ahead on 13 minutes through Tom Greaves and Thomson went close to doubling the lead on the half-hour when his free-kick clipped the crossbar.

Nuneaton did fall further behind soon after when Harry Winter headed home, but that sparked an impressive response from Boro.

Rob Duffy's header made it 2-1 on the hour mark and the same man levelled the contest with a penalty in stoppage time.

Next up for FC United is a Manchester Premier Cup tie with Stalybridge Celtic on Tuesday before an FA Trophy clash with AFC Telford United on Friday, although Thomson's role will depend on whether Chester allow him to feature in that competition.

Tom Peers

Peers came on as a late substitute as Salford City suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat at Grantham in the Evo-Stik League Premier Division.

Despite netting the winner in the previous match, the 20-year-old from Warrington found himself starting the game on the bench.

A second-half brace from Ryan Lewis had the Ammies two goals down before Peers came on for Richie Allen with eight minutes left on the clock.

Salford entertain Hartlepool United in the FA Cup second round live on the BBC on Friday night but Peers won't be involved as he is cup-tied having featured in Chester's fourth qualifying round defeat at Altrincham.

Peers will be hoping to retain his starting place when the Ammies host Workington on Tuesday before going to Grantham Town on Saturday. His next outing should be at Marine, a club where he enjoyed a successful loan spell, on December 8.

Sam Hughes

The midfielder had a blank weekend after Witton Albion's home game with Scarborough Athletic fell victim to the weather.

A waterlogged pitch at Wincham Park prevented the Wirral teenager from adding to the five appearances he has made for Carl Macauley's side.

Next up for Hughes and Witton is a trip to Clitheroe in Evo-Stik League First Division North on Saturday.
