CHESTER FC fans will get their first glimpse of big summer signing Jamie Rainford in tomorrow’s friendly with Airbus UK Broughton at the Exacta Stadium (7.30pm).

Neil Young plans to unleash the striker in the hastily-arranged clash with the Welsh Premier League outfit after he proved he is fully recovered from a jaw operation.

Rainford, signed for an undisclosed five-figure fee from league rivals Marine, played 45 minutes as Chester beat West Kirby 3-1 in a behind-closed-doors encounter on Tuesday.

Blues boss Young said: “Jamie looked very sharp and very bright. He linked up well with Michael Wilde and he will definitely play a part in Friday night’s game.

“He’s done all the pre-season training, been involved with all the ball work, but we have been waiting for the right time to put him into a game situation.

“Now is that time and he proved that on Tuesday.”

Wilde (2) and Jerome Wright got the goals in the West Kirby workout.

No new injuries were reported, meaning Young will have a full-strength squad to choose from for the visit of Airbus, aside from Matty McNeil (gashed leg).

The match was scheduled after Chester cancelled their proposed friendly at home to Fleetwood Town on Saturday. The Blue Square Premier side would probably have only sent a scratch squad because their first team are in action against Huddersfield Town tomorrow.

The Blues Bar will not be open for the Airbus game as a previously-arranged function will be taking place in the venue.
