GOALKEEPER Dennis Reeves proved himself a hotshot when the Chester Former Players Association staged their annual golf day at Eaton this week.

Scotsman Reeves won the Stableford competition with an impressive 37 points.

He is remembered by Blues fans for his outstanding performance against Manchester United in an FA Cup tie at Old Trafford during the 1960s.

Reeves played a total of 139 games for Chester between 1963 and 1967 before moving on to Wrexham and then to Wigan Athletic in 1969.

Former Blues boss Ken Roberts won the nearest the pin competition with a shot at the 17th.

The 77-year-old – manager between 1968 and 1976 – continues to support the club.

Other former players who took part included Bob Delgado, who hit the longest drive of the day, Eddie Bishop, Alan Tarbuck and association co-founders Grenville Millington and Gary Talbot.

Current Chester boss Neil Young also played.

The next City Fans United meeting takes place on Thursday, July 18, in the Blues Bar at the Exacta Stadium (7.30pm start).

Supporters can renew their CFU membership on the night while new members are also welcome to attend.

The West Cheshire Credit Union will give a short presentation on how they can help Blues fans spread the costs of their season tickets.
