Chester FC have received interest in George Thomson and Kane Richards having made them available for loan.

The pair have found themselves on the fringes this season and, following a number of new additions, have fallen further down the pecking order.

Neither has featured in the squad for the past two National League fixtures and manager Steve Burr expects the duo to leave the club on a temporary basis in the near future.

Teenage midfielder Sam Hughes was loaned to Witton Albion for a month last week and 20-year-old striker Tom Peers moved to Salford City on a month's loan on Tuesday.

Burr explained: "We've made both Kane Richards and George Thomson available for loan. We've had a couple of enquiries for those two but as yet there's been no movement.

"I think it'll help them to regain a bit of confidence and get some games. That's what we've done with Tom and with Sam too going out to Witton and getting some experience there.

"I think it's important that if those lads can get fixed up we do that to get them some games and get their confidence back."

Both Thomson and Richards moved to the Lookers Vauxhall Stadium almost 12 months ago.

Attacking midfielder Thomson, 23, impressed in a trial last summer and eventually signed from Kings Lynn Town in January on a short-term deal.

His performances earned him a new 12-month contract in May but he has failed to score in 12 league games this term, although seven of those appearances have been as a substitute.

Richards arrived from Ilkeston in December on an 18-month deal but finished the season back at his former club after rejoining them on loan in March.

He returned to Chester and showed promise in pre-season before being dropped from the squad for the defeat at Bromley after missing the team coach.

Richards bounced back to score his first goal in the derby win over Wrexham but has spent most of the campaign on the bench.
