Lincoln City chairman Bob Dorrian is hoping his side can give their play-off aspirations a boost by bagging three points at Chester FC on Saturday.

The Blues welcome an Imps side who have been beaten just once in their last seven games, at Chester's Tuesday night conquerors Barrow last month, and who have won three of their last four games in the Vanarama National League, sit 10th in the table and boast one of the division's most lethal marksmen in 10-goal Matt Rhead.

And with the former Football League outfit looking to impose themselves on the top half of the division following four season's of disappointing bottom-half finishes, Dorrian believes that this season offers an excellent chance for progression for the Sincil Bank side and wants to see his team's fine run continue at the expense of Steve Burr's Blues.

“I think it's doable this season,” Dorrian told the Lincolnshire Echo.

“We have got a great set of lads who are working hard for each other. Everybody inside the club is working hard to bring success to the club this year, so who knows, perhaps our luck might keep running?

"We've still got another two consecutive away games to come, I think that's the first time I can remember that we've played three consecutive away games in a fixture list.

“It's not a good situation to be in. Having said that, it is two teams in Welling and Chester, which are matches we feel we can win.”

Chester will likely be without on-loan striker James Roberts who is on compassionate leave following the death of his brother, while the clash with the Imps may come too soon for Luke George as he bids to regain full fitness after suffering a pulled muscle at the beginning of September which has seen him sidelined ever since.

The last time Lincoln visited Chester they were on the wrong end of a 4-0 scoreline in January as John Rooney, Sean McConville, Ryan Higgins and Brad Abbott all netted against an Imps side that had two players see red.
