Chester FC will face AFC Telford United in the FA Trophy first round for the second season running.

The draw took place at lunchtime on Monday and produced a carbon copy of last term's meetings between the clubs, which eventually saw the Bucks progress on penalties following a replay.

Chester, who have only got past the first round once since reforming in 2010, will be hoping to avoid a repeat when the sides clash on Saturday, December 12.

Recap: Chester draw AFC Telford United in FA Trophy first round again

In the first game at New Bucks Head, Kingsley James gave the Blues the lead with a penalty in the 12th minute but the hosts levelled through Jordan Deacey on 26 minutes.

Chester again took the lead in replay with a Ben Heneghan goal on 15 minutes but Sam Smith equalised on 76 minutes and keeper Jonathan Hedge saved from James and Tom Peers in the shoot-out.

Telford were relegated to the National League North at the end of last season and had a terrible start to the 2015-16 campaign, which resulted in Steve Kittrick being sacked at the end of August.

Former manager Rob Smith returned as Kittrick's replacement a few days later but although there have been signs of an improvement, the Shropshire club remain bottom of the table.

Smith's side beat FC United 2-1 in the third qualifying round on Friday night with goals from Curtis Tilt and Callum Hassan cancelling out a late consolation from Chester's George Thomson, who is on loan to the Red Rebels.

The Bucks squad includes two ex-Blues in the form of Jack Rea and Sean Clancy, while Chester's Ian Sharps and Ryan Higgins have been on Telford's books.
