Everton youngster Calum Dyson reckons those who pour scorn on non-league football are in the wrong.

The teenager moved to Chester FC on a month's loan this week and featured as a substitute in Tuesday's win over Kidderminster Harriers .

Having spent time on loan at Stockport County earlier in the season, the tall striker appreciates how tough a place the National League can be.

And the 19-year-old is happy to continue learning his craft in competitive senior football while others stick to under-21s games.

"About two months ago I was loan at Stockport in the league below so I know what the football's like," said Dyson, who hails from Fazakerly.

"It was a bit harder on Tuesday night but I enjoy that. The standard is very good. People sometimes frown upon it because it's so low down but I think it's a very good standard.

"There's a lot of good players and players who have dropped down from the Football League so they're bound to be good and it's good to test yourself against them."

Chester manager Steve Burr first approached Everton about Dyson last month but was told at the time he was not available.

That changed this week and the deal, which could be extended, went through on Monday night .

Because the Blues train three days a week, Dyson did not meet his new team-mates until he entered the dressing room before the game with Kidderminster.

He replaced James Roberts with 15 minutes to go and showed a number of good touches as the Blues made it three wins from four in the league.

"To be honest, the first I saw the players was before the game but hopefully over the next month I'll get to make a few relationships with them," said Dyson.

"I'm not too sure on names yet. I didn't know anyone so when I wanted the ball I was just shouting 'yes' basically.

"I want to earn myself a place in the team and hopefully score a few goals and help the team push forward.

"It was enjoyable. It was an easier game to come into because we were winning. I'm happy to be here and it was a good result for us."
