The boos rang out loud and clear from the home fans at the end of Saturday's dull 0-0 derby draw between Wrexham and Chester FC.

A side that had been expected to challenge for promotion at the start of the season had looked flat once again in a game where neither side managed to find a cutting edge.

But while the travelling army of Chester fans applauded their side off the pitch as they stretched their unbeaten run to four games without conceding a goal, the mood in the Wrexham camp was very different.

One animated fan shouted 'Mills Out' repeatedly as the Wrexham manager gave his post-match interview in front of the BT Sport cameras and the derby draw with the Blues has only served to pile yet more pressure on boss Gary Mills.

"I don’t know what you want me to keep saying, every week you keep asking me the same question," the manager told the Daily Post.

"I am a football manager and I love my job, I am enjoying working here at Wrexham Football Club and I will continue to do that.

"Not only am I football manager, but I am a good football manager and I love the job, I love what it is. Football is ups and downs and as a football manager you take the rough with the smooth. If anybody wants to talk to me, they can talk to me, I am a decent bloke, I am okay, and if people want to talk to me I will talk to them. If people want to shout abuse at me then I won’t, it is as simple as that.

"I have walked in here (the press room) and you all look so miserable, it was unbelievable. Saturday afternoon, a game of football, a local derby, that is why I have been in the game all my life and I will continue to be.

"And if Wrexham Football Club want me as their manager then great, if they don’t then I move on because I have moved on before either by choice or not."

Neither side looked like breaking the deadlock on Saturday in a game that seldom rose above mediocrity and where is was very much a case of defences on top.

"It was a local derby, you could see the passion from both sides," he added.

"We had two or three good chances, two or three opportunities in the last third but the final ball could have been better, but overall we looked solid again."
