GEORGE Horan and Antoni Sarcevic were the big winners at Chester FC’s end-of-season presentation evening.

Captain Horan and star midfielder Sarcevic each picked up two awards at Saturday’s MBNA-sponsored Chester Racecourse event, which was compered by BBC broadcasters and Blues fans Colin Murray and Jonathan Legard.

Horan was named Players’ Player and Away Supporters’ Player of the Year while Sarcevic won the prizes for Manager’s Player of the Year and Goal of the Season, the latter for his wonderful winner at Bishop’s Stortford in October.

Leading league goalscorer Nathan Jarman was presented with the Golden Boot award.

The Youth and Ladies Player of the Year honours went to Sean Miller and Sue  Fennell  respectively while volunteer Chris Graham, who is part of the club’s media team, was made Clubman of the Year.

Manager Neil Young was given a special recognition award from the board to mark his hat-trick of title victories.

For the third successive summer Young has made the decision to reshape a championship-winning squad.

Wes Baynes, Scott Brown, Dom Collins and Iain Howard have been released along with Matty McGinn, whose day job means he is unable to commit to the extra travelling required in the Conference Premier.

Outside commitments have also led Tony Gray, Dave Hankin and Jarman to being placed on the transfer list.

Twin brothers Nathan and Lewis Turner have returned to their parent club Leeds United while another on-loan player, Danny Williams, is signing for the Scottish Premier League’s Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

That means just eight players remain from the Blues squad that won last season’s Conference North.

Four are in contract – Paul Linwood, Ben Mills, Sarcevic and Ashley Williams – and four are out of contract – John Danby, Martin Fearon, Horan and Marc Williams.

Their fates will be decided this week once Young – who is in the process of making a number of signings – releases his official retained list.
