Chester FC players will wear green armbands at Guiseley on Saturday in honour of tragedy-hit Brazilian football club Chapecoense.

There has been an outpouring of grief and sympathy from the football world following the plane tragedy that claimed the lives of 71 people in Medellin, Colombia, earlier this week.

Many of those on board included Chapecoense players and officials en route to Colombia to contest the Copa Sudamerica final against Atletico Nacional - Chapecoense's first major cup final.

Five survivors were pulled from the plane wreckage.

The disaster stunned the football world and Atletico Nacional requested that the Copa Sudamericana title be awarded to Chapecoense.

Football stars including Brazilian legend Ronaldinho and Argentinian Juan Roman Riquelme are among those to have offered to play for the club for free next season.

Chester will don the green armbands for the trip to Nethermoor tomorrow (3pm) and have used the hashtag #greenforchape in order to spread their message to other football clubs.
