Danny Hattersley wants to repay Chester FC manager Steve Burr for bringing him to the club through his performances on the pitch.

The 23-year-old arrived this week on loan from FC Halifax Town , where he has been been restricted to two starts and seven substitute appearances.

It has been a frustrating campaign for the ex-Southport centre-forward but he plans on putting that behind him and making the most of his fresh start.

Hattersley said: "I'm buzzing for it and can't wait to get started. I've been dying to get here for a few weeks now and play some football.

"When you get promised to play games and you don't, and you're in and out then it's going to be tough. I've been getting five minutes here and there but hopefully now I can start performing and scoring a few goals for Chester.

"Steve got in touch and noticed I wasn't playing and said he wanted me down here. He's seen me play a few times and I'm grateful he's given me the chance to come in so I can show what I can do.

"I want to try and get back to my best form where I score goals, hold the ball up and get everyone involved and hopefully I can do that starting Saturday."

Hatterlsey adds physicality to the Chester squad, along with a decent goalscoring record from his time at Southport and Stockport.

He watched the 1-1 draw with Dover Athletic on Tuesday and, from knowing some of the team already having played alongside or against them, believes the Blues can improve over the second half of the season, starting at Gateshead on Saturday (3pm).

"I used to live with Luke George last year at Southport and I know Craig Hobson from our Stockport days as well but all of the lads have welcomed me," said Hattersley.

"I came to watch on Tueday and it was a tough game because the weather didn't help either side and we did well to grind out a point there.

"It's going to be a tough trip to Gateshead because they've got a new manager but I think we can go there and get the three points.

"There's some good players in this team with the likes of Luke George, John Rooney, Craig Mahon. There's a lot of good players here and I think personally we've got a good chance of making the play-offs if we can string some results together leading into Christmas. "
