Approaching midweek, thoughts of the weekend that has been drift away and attention switches to what is to come this weekend.

For Chester FC it is a daunting away trip to Hampshire to face an in-form Aldershot Town side who put Tranmere Rovers to the sword at the weekend. They don't get any easier do they?

Chester's away form has been miserable so far this season with only one point taken from a possible 12, something that Blues boss Jon McCarthy is acutely aware of as he looks to address the situation.

Said McCarthy: "It was (a problem) last season and there are a group of players who are still in there from that so I will have a look at that tactically.

"Do I have to steady the ship there? Does that mean that I need to get another body in midfield away from home to start? I'll have to see."

HARVEY'S NEW ROLE

Former Chester City manager Jim Harvey is back in football management after taking the Altrincham job that ex-Chester FC boss Neil Young vacated last week.

Harvey, who managed Chester between October 2009 and January 2010, was in charge of FC Halifax Town last season but couldn't prevent them being relegated to the National League North.

FANCY WORKING FOR THE BLUES?

Chester FC Community Trust are seeking to appoint a schools partnership co-ordinator.

The paid role provides an opportunity to design, develop and deliver a new education project using sport as a vehicle to improve physical and emotional well-being, build confidence and reduce risk taking and anti-social behaviour among primary school children in Chester and the surrounding area.

Described as a hands-on position, candidates will be expected to demonstrate experience of shaping programmes and delivering sessions, and be passionate about the power of sport to effect change.

IS BURR SOUTHPORT BOUND?

Rumours are suggesting that ex-Chester boss Steve Burr is in the running for the vacant managers position at the Haig Avenue.

Burr has been out of work since being sacked by Chester in April after a run of poor results left the Blues fighting to avoid relegation.

Liam Watson has also been touted as a possible director of football with the Sandgrounders, who sacked Andy Bishop as boss after a poor start to the National League season.

FUNERAL DETAILS FOR FORMER BLUES SKIPPER

Last week came the sad news of Chester FC hero Reg Matthewson's passing while on holiday with his family in Spain.

Mr Matthewson was club captain for one of the most memorable seasons in the club's history when they won promotion from the old Division Four and also reached the semi-final of the League Cup in the 1974/75 season.

The funeral of Mr Matthewson will take place on Friday, September 16 at 1.20pm at Blacon Crematorium.
