A great point for Chester FC at Aldershot Town at the weekend sees the Blues head into the new week in bullish mood.

Next up is a visit of Guiseley to the Lookers Vauxhall Stadium tomorrow (Tuesday, September 13, 7.45pm) with Jon McCarthy's side looking to pick up three points against the National League's bottom side.

But there are injury headaches for McCarthy at present and he may have to reshuffle his pack once again for the visit of the Lions.

Macca on injury problems

Theo Vassell and Elliott Durrell were both withdraw with knocks during the draw with Aldershot while Blaine Hudson was also struggling.

Luke George, Evan Horwood and Ross Killock remain sidelined meaning McCarthy has a few selection problems ahead of the visit of the Yorkshire side.

"They'll be things we have to deal with," said McCarthy.

"I trust what I have got and we will write down on paper what we have got and try and plug the gaps in.

"I think maybe it isn't too bad. I would expect those players (who picked up knocks against Aldershot) to get back. We have some worries and some concerns, though. Full back has been a big blow for us and has been really frustrating for us and probably explains some of our defensive form."

Who scored what?

A much-improved display from the Blues at Aldershot saw them earn a deserved share of the spoils.

We've rated the individual performances of the Blues from the trip to Hampshire. Ryan Lloyd scores pretty well.

'Credit to Chester'

Aldershot boss Gary Waddock praised Chester's approach to the game following Saturday's draw.

The Blues became the first team to come away from the EBB Stadium this season with anything to show for their efforts after ending their host's four-match unbeaten run.

"You’ve got to give credit to Chester, for the way they set their stall out, but I was disappointed in the way that we played," said Waddock.

Burr pleased with start

Former Chester FC manager Steve Burr was in the dugout as his Southport side earned a point following a 1-1 draw at Eastleigh.

Burr was appointed Sandgrounders boss last week and has been tasked with turning around the fortunes of the Haig Avenue side.

"It’s been a great response from the players," he said.

"They’ve worked very hard and I’ve said to them that this is the benchmark for future matches."

McCarthy pleased with Blues display

After watching his side prove more than a match for Aldershot Town on Saturday, Blues boss McCarthy was full of praise for his Chester side's performance.

He said: "This has been our best away performance so far.

"We were outstanding in the first half against a very good Aldershot team. Not many teams will come here and pick up points but we were much better than them in the first half and I think that everybody would have to accept that."
