Steve Burr concedes the wretched 3-0 loss to FC Halifax Town means his side are 'back to square one' heading into the bank holiday fixture at Kidderminster Harriers (3pm).

Chester were completely outclassed by a team that a little more than 12 months ago finished 32 points behind them in the Conference North title-winning campaign.

All confidence gained from the 3-1 win at Braintree Town has dissipated and few will expect the Blues to trouble Kiddy, who are unbeaten and still to concede a goal.

Burr spent four years in charge at Aggborough and took the club to the verge of the Football League, but some of the boardroom wanted him out and replaced the 54-year-old with Andy Thorn.

Thorn lasted less than three months and the Harriers turned to Gary Whild, previously assistant manager under Burr, who has steadied the ship and put together a resolute side.

Burr will receive an excellent reception from the home fans but he will want to show those responsible for his departure that he remains one of the best managers in non-league.

However given the Blues performance on Saturday, bookmakers will be offering long odds on that happening.

Burr said: "I want a take this club back to Kidderminster and have some sort of reflection on how they know my sides play.

"It's very frustrating at the minute and it's difficult because I've not been used to this side of it for a good while but I'll keep working hard to get it right.

"We had a decent game up at Forest Green, albeit we didn't get the points, we had a good 45 minutes at Braintree and then we're back to square one."

Chester welcome back midfielder Danny Harrison from suspension and he should go straight back into the side.

Burr hinted after the defeat on Saturday that there will be further changes, although his wafer-thin squad means options are limited.

He said: "We've obviously missed Danny but I think that there's one or two that will be looking at their own performance against Halifax and they know that they haven't lived up to what I expect

"We haven't got a massive squad and we'll have to look at ways of turning it round to get the right result.

"Were there one or two that were maybe shying away from having the ball in front of their own fans against Halifax in case they make a mistake?

"I'd love to be playing out there and showing what I can do but at the minute we've got a lot of hard work ahead of us to turn things around.

"I think all 11 need to take responsibility but ideally I'd like to bring a couple of lads in but we know where we are with that and we can't do it so we'll just have to keep trying to improve these lads and obviously look for better performances."

Kidderminster head into the game having won both home games and drawn both games on the road.

Although Whild has put his own stamp on the squad, his team will include many familiar with Burr and his methods.

Harriers assistant boss Mark Creighton expects Burr to have his side fired up for the fixture.

Creighton said: "If he is going to be pumped for any game and get his team up for any game, it'll be Monday at our place

"I know Steve very well and I like him, he's a good manager but come 3pm on Monday there will be no friendships.

"From our perspective, we're delighted with how the boys have responded to what we're asking them to do and we can't ask for any more."
