Liverpool's squad for tonight's pre-season game with Chester FC is expected to include several Premier League stars (7.45pm).

Although the fixture has been arranged for the under-21s, The Chronicle understands the Reds will be fielding a number of first-teamers at the Lookers Vauxhall Stadium.

No names have been confirmed but Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers could decide to give a run out to those squad members not involved in the pre-season tour of Australia, Thailand and Maylasia.

That list includes Portugese defender Tiago Ilori, Spanish full-back Jose Enrique, German midfielder Emre Can, Brazilian international Philippe Coutinho, along with out-of-favour forwards Fabio Borini and Mario Balotelli.

Coutinho and Can both featured for the U21s against Porto at the weekend while exciting youngsters such as Cameron Brannagan, Harry Wilson, Jerome Sinclair and Ryan Kent should also feature.

There might be a first appearance in a red shirt for £32.5million striker Christian Benteke or £29million signing Roberto Firmino, although the Reds do have two friendlies this weekend against HJK Helsinki and Swindon Town.

Chester boss Steve Burr said: "It's great that Liverpool are coming down and some of these players will be the stars of tomorrow.

"I'm led to believe the squad could include one or two big names too because Coutinho and Emre Can were involved at the weekend, and that would be fantastic for the supporters.

"It will be a tough game for us and we will need to make sure look after possession in this game because if we don't it could be a while before we get the ball back."

Admission for tonight's match costs £5 for adults, £3 for concessions and is free for under-21s.
