CHESTER FC boss Neil Young last night put the finishing touches to his squad rebuilding by completing the signings of Wes Baynes and Rob Marsh-Evans.

Chester-born Baynes, 22, is a right-winger who was released from fierce rivals Wrexham at the end of last season while Marsh-Evans, 24, is a versatile defender whose career started at Chester City FC.

The skilful Baynes was tipped for a big future at Wrexham but fell out of favour with Dean Saunders. The dead-ball specialist, who made his Dragons debut in the 2-2 derby draw with Chester at the Racecourse in November 2007, finished the season on loan with Altrincham.

The 6ft 3in Marsh-Evans, who can play at left-back or centre-back, came through the Blues youth ranks before going on to play for Vauxhall Motors and most recently Southport.

Marsh-Evans and Baynes become Young’s eighth and ninth signings since leading Chester to the Evo-Stik League First Division North title. They join fellow new boys Jamie Rainford, Liam Brownhill, Jerome Wright, Alex Brown, Mark Reed, Matty McNeil and John Danby at the club.

Stuart Jones, Richard Whiteside, Kyle Wilson, Tom Field, Steven Beck, Scott Barlow and Tom McCready have left the Exacta Stadium while Michael Aspin and Mark Connolly have been transfer-listed.
