NEIL Young’s players will be playing for their futures over the next six days as Chester FC’s pre-season programme kicks into gear.

Blues boss Young is looking to trim his squad after he swooped for three more signings yesterday – and he will use the games with Heswall, Aberystwyth Town and Tranmere Rovers to decide who will survive the cut.

Young, whose summer recruitment drive is not over yet, said: “We haven’t got a never-ending budget and so I can’t keep signing people without letting people go.

“All the players I’ve got are very good, experienced players, but I’m one of those people that if something better comes along, I will move.

“I will tell the players what I’m doing and why I’m doing it, and anyone who does go I will help them find a club.”

Chester make the short trip to West Cheshire League Division One outfit Heswall tonight (7pm) – two days after the original game was rained off –before welcoming the Welsh Premier League’s Aberystwyth to the Deva Stadium on Saturday (3pm) for the club’s first home match since their rebirth.

Admission is £7 for adults, £5 for OAPs and students with NUS cards, and £3 for under 18s.

The Blues Bar will be open from noon.

Chester then welcome an XI from League One neighbours Tranmere to the Deva Stadium on Tuesday (7pm).
