UP to 1,500 Chester FC fans are expected to make the short trip to Rivacre Park tonight for their side’s eagerly awaited all-ticket derby at Vauxhall Motors (7.45pm).

The Blues go into the first ever competitive meeting between the teams on the back of a weekend win over Histon that moved them back to the top of the table for 48 hours.

But Neil Young was far from pleased with the performance and will want his players to must move up a gear against a Motors side he has high regard for.

The Chester boss said: “Vauxhall are a hard-working side who will be very organised.

“Their manager Carl Macauley has developed a good team spirit, I watched them last week against Oxford and despite playing with 10 men for a lot of the second half, they still won.

“They’ve got a lot of resilience about them.”

Young will once again be without the suspended George Horan and Michael Powell and the injured Matty McGinn.

McGinn is waiting on an ultrasound scan to discover the seriousness of the leg injury he picked up in last month’s FA Cup tie at home to Halifax Town.

Young fears the left-back will be out for at least a month.

New left-winger Danny Williams is likely to be included in the Blues squad if he shakes off an ankle knock that ruled him out of the unconvincing victory over Histon.

Chester slipped back to second last night after Brackley Town won 2-1 at Worcester City to move two points clear at the top.

Motors have won their last three home matches and sit in a comfortable mid-table position.

Their manager Macauley said: “It’ll be a big, tough test for us.

“We’ve watched Chester a few times and they’ve put out different sides each time, so that’s thrown us a bit.”
