Promising defender Ben Heneghan has agreed a deal to remain with the Blues until the end of the season.

Heneghan, 21, signed non-contract forms in mid-August after impressing on trial and has made eight appearances to date.

He scored his first goal on Monday night, netting a last-gasp winner in the 2-1 victory against rivals Wrexham at the Swansway Chester Stadium.

Manager Steve Burr said: "Ben has been brilliant since he's been here and obviously became a hero other against Wrexham.

"He is still a young lad learning the game, and needs a lot of had work and coaching but I'm delighted that he's going to stay with us until the end of the season."

Salford-born Heneghan started his career at Everton, where he played in the same team as Ross Barkley and Seamus Coleman, before moving to Stoke City.

He was a regular in the Under-21 Premier League and had a loan spell with Droylsden but did not make the first team and the Potters released him at the end of last season.

Heneghan made his Blues debut off the bench in the 3-1 win at Braintree Town and has been the first choice right back over the past few weeks.
