Chester FC have announced a pre-season game with Cheshire neighbours Crewe Alexandra.

The Blues will welcome the League One side to the Lookers Vauxhall Stadium on Saturday, August 1 (3pm).

It will be the third summer running the two clubs have faced each other during pre-season.

John Rooney's stunning second-half strike earned the Blues a 1-1 draw last July in a game that featured George Thomson as a trialist .

The game with the Railwaymen will be the final warm-up for Steve Burr and his squad before the 2015-16 National League campaign begins on August 8.

Chester's pre-season preparations begin with back-to-back home games with two more League One sides: Oldham Athletic on July 11 (3pm) and Rochdale on July 14 (7.45pm).

The Blues then have three games against lower league opposition: going to Trafford on July 18 (3pm), Hendesford Town on July 21 (3pm) and Stalybridge Celtic on July 25 (3pm).

Chester entertain Premier League opposition on July 29 when Liverpool under-21s visit (7pm) before facing Crewe.
