Chester FC have announced a new sponsorship deal that will see the Deva Stadium renamed the Lookers Vauxhall Stadium for the next two seasons.

The new commercial partnership with Lookers Chester Vauxhall will also see the firm become the club's vehicle provider.

Lookers are one of the region's leading motor retailers with branches in Chester and Ellesmere Port, while the Vauxhall plant in Ellesmere Port is one the area's major employers.

Mark Starling, general manager at Lookers Vauxhall on Sealand Road, said: "Lookers Vauxhall are incredibly proud to be associated with Chester FC.

"Supporting the local community is one of our key ambitions and this association really strengthens that aim. There are a high number of our team here at Lookers and our customers who are Chester FC fans so you can imagine how thrilled we are with this partnership.

"It is interesting to note that Lookers was established in the north west in 1908, Chester City FC in 1885 and Vauxhall Motors in 1857: three partners with incredibly strong, proud heritage and history.

“The association with Chester FC is a natural link. Lookers Chester Vauxhall is within half a mile of the ground, Vauxhall has a large number of ex-employees who are Chester FC volunteers and Vauxhall UK is the major sponsor to England and Home Nations football, right from a grass-roots level with support for a large number of schools and Sunday league clubs around the country."

John Martin, the club's commercial director, said he was delighted with the new partnership.

He said: "It’s a two-year deal with a very prestigious company, and we’re very excited to have them on board with us ahead of what we hope will be another great campaign for the club.

“It is not only a national brand, but a brand and retailer that are known very well in the local community too. As things are moving on at the club, it shows just how much we are growing as a club that we can attract sponsorship from Vauxhall and Lookers.

"I’d like to thank everybody who was involved in bringing the partnership together from Vauxhall, Lookers and here at the club. Hopefully today is the start of a very fruitful and successful partnership between us both."
