Chester FC have allocated 1,110 tickets to Tranmere Rovers for the Vanarama National League clash at the Lookers Vauxhall Stadium on Sunday, February 28 (12pm).
Tickets go on sale on Monday (February 15), with Rovers expected to sell all of their allocation with ease despite limiting their initial availability to season ticket holders and supporters club members due to limited supply.
The fixture is not designated as a 'bubble match' in the way that fixtures between the Blues and local rivals Wrexham have been in recent seasons.
Rovers chairman Mark Palios says the decision to allow just season ticket holders and supporters club members to purchase tickets is down to the limited number made available, stating that demand is likely to exceed supply.
System may penalise some fans
"We recognise that we have potentially many more supporters who would like to attend this fixture than the 1,110 tickets we will receive,” Palios told Rovers' official club website.
“As a result we have chosen to put them on sale to season ticket holders and Supporters Club members first in keeping with the promises we made to both groups of supporters when they signed up for 2015-16.
"However, we realise that this system may penalise some of our fans who, whilst not season ticket holders or members of the Official Supporters Club have attended all or most of our away matches this season and provided valuable support to the team. As a consequence we are looking at creating a loyalty scheme for next season to ensure away supporters have an improved opportunity to access tickets for games where demand may be greater than the supply.
"The team have had fantastic away support this season and we look forward to seeing another good following on the road when we play at Chester."
