Here's how Chester FC reporter Jim Green rated the players in the 1-0 win over Kidderminster Harriers on Saturday.

Jon Worsnop 8: Proved his worth to the team again with two crucial stops towards the end. His save from Danny Wright was world class. His Barnet nightmare feels like a long time ago now.

Ryan Higgins 7: Impressed in the first-half, bombing forward at every opportunity and linking up well with Craig Mahon down the right. Found things tougher in the second-half but looks a good addition on the evidence of his first two games.

Matty Brown 5: Has been the stand-out in a difficult run for the team so extremely unfortunate to pull his hamstring in the third minute. He was at least able to limp off and hopefully the injury is not as serious as first appeared.

Michael Kay 8: Hard to fathom how he cannot transfer his performances at centre half to right-back. No coincidence the Blues have not conceded since he returned to central defence. Excellent.

Gareth Roberts 7: Another assured display from the 36-year-old, who has been this season's most consistent performer. His reliability allows Matty Hughes to concentrate on going forward.

Brad Abbott 7: Shown some touches of class in his two appearances so far and he combined well with John Rooney to minimise the impact of Kingsley James' absence. Came off after being the victim of a bad tackle, which was allowed to go unpunished.

John Rooney 7: Covered well for the suspended James, particularly in the first-half. Used the ball well and kept his shape. Tailed off a bit in the second-half but a good contribiution.

Craig Mahon 8: Much more like his usual self and caused lots of problems for two experienced full-backs. His goal was out of the top drawer and capped an excellent performance from the Irish winger.

Sean McConville 7: Worked hard to provide a link between the midfield and the front three, and had a couple of decent chances. Not as effective after the break.

Matty Hughes 7: Frustrating afternoon for the 22-year-old, but his work-rate was exceptional and his sheer presence in the team worries opponents, freeing up Mahon.

Oliver McBurnie 8: An encouraging start from the 18-year-old, who never stopped running and gave his team-mates a platform to work off. Strong aerial presence and can only improve as he gains more experience.

Substitutes

Ben Heneghan 9: To come on so early and in such a pivotal position and then produce a near faultless performance underlined his ability. Looked a class act in his natural position and his challenge now is to find greater consistency.

Josh Green 6: Tasked with shoring up the midfield as the Harriers pushed forward and did an effective job.

George Thomson 5: Limited time on the pitch and had to come on in a deeper role than planned when Abbott went off injured.
