Here's how Blues reporter Jim Green rated the Chester FC performance in Saturday's 1-0 home defeat to Eastleigh .

Jon Worsnop 7: Could do nothing about the winning goal and barely had a save to make apart from that with James Constable and Harry Pell unable to find the target with the best two chances for the visitors.

Ryan Higgins 7: His charges down the right hand side looked the Blues best hope of opening up the Eastleigh defence, although the cross for the winner came from his area. Long throws caused problems and almost led to a goal for Craig Hobson in the first-half.

Ben Heneghan 7: Didn't look as comfortable without Michael Kay next to him but another solid showing and appears to have cemented himself as one of the first choice centre backs.

Kieran Charnock 6: Came in for the suspended Kay and did a reasonable job. Not as assured in possession as the man he replaced but helped restrict a dangerous strikeforce to few chances.

Gareth Roberts 6: Caught out for the goal as Dan Walker nipped in ahead of him to poke Jai Reason's cross past Worsnop. A rare blot on his copybook.

Brad Abbott 6: Not able to influence proceedings as he has shown he is capable of. Eastleigh had no real width and instead packed the midfield area to great effect.

John Rooney 6: Hit the target with a couple of free kicks but neither posed too much of a problem for Ross Flitney. Unable to get into the game as he has done in recent weeks before being withdrawn.

Craig Mahon 7: Victim of a high and dangerous challenge, which somehow the referee decided wasn't worthy of a card. Switched wings in an effort to create something but with the midfielders struggling for possession it was a frustrating afternoon.

Sean McConville 6: His effectiveness relies on him being able to float into the space between the midfield and the forwards but Eastleigh had clearly picked up on this and countered it well. Quiet before making way for Kingsley James.

Matty Hughes 7: Opponents are a lot wiser to him now and no surprise to see Eastleigh doubling up at times. Heavy touch let him down when he did get free but no lack of will and effort.

Craig Hobson 7: Not everybody's cup of tea but came closest to scoring, bringing a decent save out of Flitney with a header and then inches away from turning Hughes' shot into the net. Went off with a shoulder injury and the lack of an outlet up front was an obvious weakness from then.

Substitutes

Kingsley James 6: Worked hard and got forward to support the search for an equaliser but it was tough going against a well-drilled outfit.

Kane Richards 6: Still to make a really eye-catching contribution but injected some pace and energy up top.

George Thomson 6: Showed some smart touches and movement offers promise but having to bide his time for a starting opportunity in his favoured role.
