Altrincham took advantage of another sub-par Chester FC performance to win 2-0 at the Swansway Chester Stadium on Boxing Day .

On a cold and wet afternoon, the Robins went ahead on on 25 minutes when Shaun Densmore's free kick caught out the defence and Tom Marshall headed past Jon Worsnop.

Chester made a decent start to the second half and created a couple of half chances but the visitors doubled the lead in the 59th minute when Gianluca Haven nodded home James Lawrie's corner.

Alty never looked in the mood to give up the points and the Blues were unable to breakdown a well organised back four.

Defeat means the Blues are now without a win in six games and things do not get any easier with FC Halifax Town up next.
